A travel to Estonia April 2011 to find the family roots of Tiiu and Siiri.

Waiting for the ferry boat at Värtahamnen Stockholm. |

In the middle of Tallin we found this parking place outsida a restaurant with good food! |
|

24 hours at a cost of 6,4 euro. |

In Tallinn we met Inna. Inna´s mothers father and Tiiu´s fathers mother were siblings. |

Inna with her daughter Helen. |

On our way from Tallinn to Tartu we found a small restaurant (red spot). A man came up to us and informed that we could empty our toilette... |

... at the small wooden lid behind the toilette. Another man told us that we could bring water from a small well close to the place. |

Outside Tartu we found the small village Kriimani. Grandfather Aleksander Paldrok had got this land aerea from the gouvernment. He named the place after his son Heiti (Tiiu and Siiri´s father). An old lady could give some information from that time. |

The "Manor house" in Kriimani |

Kvistental outsideTartu, where the grandfather Johannes of Siiri and Tiiu had a leather factory. Here they are togehter with the current owner of the house. |
 |

We saw Mai and Jaan whom we have seen earlier during exchange visits between the friendship towns Härnösand and Viljandi. |

It was very nice to be able to see them again! |

In Pärnu we stayed at a nice Caravan Park. When we arrived there were floodings in the aerea caused by the ice. Shortly after our arrival.... |

... the ice broke up and moved out to the sea! |

In Kuresaare on the island of Saaremaa you can see our mobile home as a small white spot to the left. The castle of Kuresaare is seen to the right. The tourist information told us that no camping places were opened yet... |

... but this sign made us do some research. It turned out that the parking place had all facilities as electricity, toilette emptying, duspins and fresh water. All for the cost of 13 euro/24 hours. |

The road Vana-Romasaare where Aleksander Paldrok, the grandfather of Siiri and Tiiu, had his summer house. |

This 86 years old lady could inform about her memories of Aleksander. He was obviously very popular in Kuresaare. |

At the castle of Kuresaare which today is a museum. There are some information about the grandfather Aleksander, who was a proffessor of skin diseases and with a special interest in Leprosy. |

Information about the colony for people with Leprosy that Aleksander and a collegue started. |

Outside the hospital of Kuresaare is a stone of remeberance of Aleksander. |

We put flowers on the grave of Aleksander. |

At a meteorite crater in Kali |
|

Back to Tallinn before going home to Sweden again. |
